LTE DL PHY Structure example (6 RB, 1.4 MHz)


Below is an example of LTE DL PHY structure for 6 RB/FDD configuration. You would find an example of 15 RB configuration in next article. I wrote a small Perl script to take few configuration parameters and generate below diagram. You may contact me at samir.s.amberkar@gmail.com if you would like to try the script.

Though the diagrams are generated with PHY equations available in 3GPP TS 36.211, Paul Wad's site helped me verify my calculations !!

Not used due to broadcast - The mapping operation shall assume cell-specific reference signals for antenna ports 0-3 being present irrespective of the actual configuration. The UE shall assume that the resource elements assumed to be reserved for reference signals in the mapping operation above but not used for transmission of reference signal are not available for PDSCH transmission.
