Basic idea behind V2V

Basic idea behind V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) is exchange of information between vehicles to achieve common goal of public safety (on road) and efficient traffic.

ETSI formulated ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) specifications to standardise the requirements and protocols.

CV2X

3GPP enhanced Sidelink (concept introduced under "Proximity Services") to support V2V communication in unlicenced spectrum (LTE Band 47, 5.9 GHz). This is popularly known as Cellular V2X or simply, CV2X.

Autonomous selection

One of the major CV2X enhancements is Sidelink transmission mode 4. This mode cover algorithm for autonomous selection of RF resources. It is implemented at RRC/MAC/PHY(control) level and below diagram gives top level view of the same.
